Shepherd’s huts date back to 1596, where an early text reads ‘the Shepheard hath his Cabbin going upon a wheel for to move here and there at his pleasure’. Originally, shepherd’s huts were welcome shelter from Britain’s unpredictable weather—a place to rest their head and escape from the elements during the lambing season. Owning a shepherd’s hut allowed farmers to practice better land management and manage their flock day and night. Today, we bring a little bit of farming history into the modern day for luxury glamping.

Located in our CS field in their very own private spaces overlooking Thruscross, this area was the original home of The Field of Dreams Glamping on Channel 4's "Carry on Glamping" with Johnny Vegas. Relax on the hut balcony and drink in outstanding, panoramic views across the green fields, open waters of Thruscross Reservoir, woodlands, and the surrounding Washburn Valley.

Meet Our Huts

Swaledale: Designed in lovely fresh green tones with Swaledale sheep theming. Swaledale sheep are at the heart of our farm, distinctive by their black faces and curled horns.
Herdwick: Decorated in modern blue tones and themed around our very own Herdwicks (or "Houdinis" as they are often up to no good), who often graze the surrounding fields.
Wensleydale (Our Newest Addition): A slightly larger hut featuring a king-sized bed, larger kitchen area, and more indoor space—perfect for longer stays. Named after the famous Wensleydale Longwool breed and well-known Yorkshire dale. This hut comes with a later checkout of 11:00 AM.

Boutique Features & Amenities

Our adult-only huts are suitable for up to 2 people. To preserve the peaceful escape, we do not allow pets or infants. Each hut includes:

Full-sized double bed (King in Wensleydale) with bedding and towels included.
En-suite bathroom and full central heating for a cozy stay year-round.
Small kitchen area with a dual-ring induction hob, microwave, fridge, and all cooking equipment/crockery.
Indoor and outdoor dining areas with a private decking space and seating.
Free guest Wi-Fi (please note: as a rural wireless network, connection can be affected by poor weather).
Firebowl BBQ for cooking (logs and firelighters available on-site). Only our fire pits and fuel logs are permitted.
Wood-fired pizza oven hire and pizzas available to purchase.
Optional Spa Hot Tub from £20 per night (for stays of 2 or more nights) or £30 for single nights. Dressing gowns are included! (Note: Hot tub must be booked for the full duration of your stay).
Free of charge seasonal decoration themes.

Check-in is between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM. EV charging is available on the farm (payable service).

Booking Information & Discounts

Midweek Stays: 1-night bookings are selectively available Sunday to Thursday (excludes school holidays and selected dates).
Weekends & Peak Season: Weekend stays are Friday to Sunday year-round. A 2-night minimum stay applies to July, August, school holidays, and festive periods (set check-in/out days apply for Christmas/New Year). Bank Holidays require a 3-night minimum.
Multi-Night Loyalty: Discounts are automatically applied at checkout when booking 2 or more nights (excludes Bank Holidays)—the longer you stay, the better the discount! Returning guests can email us for a unique discount code.

A: Our luxury shepherd's huts (Swaledale, Herdwick, and Wensleydale) are strictly an adult-only (18+) and pet-free retreat to guarantee an absolute peaceful and quiet escape for our guests.

Q: How do we book the outdoor Jacuzzi hot tubs?
A: Our premium electric jacuzzi spa hot tubs are an optional extra that can be selected during your online checkout. They cost £20 per night for stays of two or more nights, or £30 for single-night bookings, and must be booked for the entire duration of your stay.Dressing gowns and extra pool towels are included!

Q: When is the balance taken?

A: We have several payment options. Eligible customers can spread the cost using PayPal pay in 3 (spreads the costs over 3 interest 3 payments). The balance is taken at the point of booking.
